Interrupting my blog hiatus to tell you about new pieces recently put up on The Leighton Pearl.

I’ve started making jewelry with swollen joints and inflamed muscles in mind. It’s hard to find a lightweight piece that is edgy and my style without it being large and uncomfortable for swollen wrists. The best part is that these bracelets are so light that you can layer them without the weight being an issue.

I have finally found an alternative and I hope you guys love the designs as much as I do. New FSU game day bows are up too, with more colors coming soon.

Those of you who have supported TLP in the past have directly supported me and I really cannot explain how appreciative I am of that. So many of you know what it’s like to not be able to work and therefore have no income, so TLP is extremely important to me and I cannot thank those of you who have promoted it, shared it, and purchased pieces from it enough.

I’ll be launching a set of fall pieces in September and will be doing a giveaway of some new stuff, so stay tuned for that :)

Friday Favourites 07/27/2012

1. Murad AHA/BHA Exfoliating Cleanser— the only product that seems to have any real effect on my post-infusion acne that does not irritate or worsen my very sensitive skin. I got mine from Ulta— you get a free gift with purchase of the cleanser.

2. Nike Dri-Fit Women’s Shorts— I live in these. Dri-fit absorbs the sweat from the summer heat, they’re extremely comfortable, don’t push on my sore hips, are perfect for hiding bloat (IBD/Endo/Pelvic pain sufferers, this one is for you!), perfect for exercise, and come in every color/size you can think of. The perfect chronic illness shorts. I got mine for half off retail price at my local Nordstrom Rack, so check outlet stores before you buy at full price.

3. The Leighton Pearl Summer Bracelet Line— Light weight, designed with summer, studs, and sore joints in mind. You can layer them, dress them up or down, and they are the perfect gift for any friend. I’ll be posting them here shortly, but click to order/view photos.

4. Essie’s Lilacism— this week’s nail color, a perfect purple that is both flattering to my very red hands yet not overpowering. Since many of you have been asking, I get my nail polishes at GBS Beauty Supply Store for significantly less than the retail price.

5. Information Central Notepad— Love this pad. I have a slightly different one by the same brand that I found at Target. Include sections for to do, to call, to email, and notes. The ultimate to-do list desk pad. This also doubles as a mouse pad.

6. Blue Sky Weekly/Monthly Planner— an 8.5x11 (the one pictured here is smaller; the 8.5x11 can only be found in stores) planner for $9.99 at Target, sections include a full monthly calendar, a weekly planner, and large spaces for daily tasks/assignments. Perfect for combining my blog, school, and medical schedule from July 2012 to June 2013. Comes in plenty of patterns, so go check them out at Target or order online, especially if you are looking for a way to beat the brain fog and stay organized this semester.

7. 1200mg Fish Oil— A must-have for my daily routine. If you aren’t taking this for your inflammation, absolutely speak to your doctor about the health benefits of taking a fish oil capsule and go read the very legitimate studies on the effects of the supplement.

Autoimmune Anniversary Giveaway: Friday, April 27th

Today marks my autoimmune anniversary— the one year mark of my diagnoses.

Rather than this being a grim reminder of the difficult year I’ve had, I’m celebrating making it through such a hard year. Celebrating making it through with more reasons to smile and more strength than I started the year with, celebrating the opportunities I’ve created and found through this, the people that I have met and spoken to all over the world, celebrating the organizations that I have established connections with, celebrating going back to university after a surgery that got me nicknamed “the woman cut in half.”

Most importantly, I’m celebrating my love for life and the people in it, despite disease and disability.

So, to share some of this love with you, I’m doing a giveaway! As always, like the Facebook page to be eligible to win. I will announce the winner on Friday, April 27th (after the chaos of my final exams has passed!).

What you can win:

A pair of The Leighton Pearl earrings: custom made, wire-wrapped Swarovski pearl earrings with sterling silver findings (value: $16 + shipping). Pearls come in light blue, light pink, and white (as pictured below).

A Cure Rheumatoid Arthritis silicone bracelet. I will be donating $5 of my own money in place of this bracelet.

There is also a Mother’s Day sale at The Leighton Pearl right now! 10% off all jewelry. Support a fellow chronic-blogger and buy your lovely mother, sister, grandmother, whomever a gorgeous, hand made, one of a kind keepsake. Coupon code: mothersday1
