Weekly Link Roundup 12/21/2011
- Antirheumatic Drugs and Pregnancy: A Primer— A great overview of the consequences some antirheumatic drugs have when trying to conceive. The article covers drugs such as Methotrexate, Leflumonide (Arava), Hydroxychloroquine (Plaquenil) and others including some biologics. Thrive With RA, this one is for you, since you asked me a while back if I knew of any information. I’d also suggest reading this article on Entanercept(Enbrel) and Breastfeeding.
- Patient Advocate Foundation to give 9.3 Million Donation to Copay Relief Program— PAF will be donating the 9.3 million to its CPR program, which aids patients with various types of cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, and Hep. C who are not able to pay their co-payments. The program has offered assistance to over 50,00 patients and over $130,000 million in aid. If you’re seeking financial support, this might be an option for you.
- Dr. Kavanaugh’s List of Rheumatologist Bloggers— Interested in reading the physician’s perspective? Rheumatologist Ronan Kavanaugh (who wrote The Sexiness of Rheumatology posted in a previous weekly link roundup) has compiled a list of Rheumy Bloggers. It’s always nice to get a fresh perspective on our health-care providers and disease(s) and I personally believe that the key to a good doctor-patient relationship is understanding of both roles.
- Rheumatoid Connect— An online forum/community just for those with rheumatic diseases. Something to check out if you like sharing resources and connecting with others through the internet.
Blog of the week: Dr. Grumpy— Hilarious hilarious hilarious musings of a physician. My personal favourite? Patient quote: "It was a serious fall. I cracked all the tibias in my arms, legs, and back." Definitely a blog to check out if you’re a med nerd like myself. Great for a laugh too.
